Russian company Geoscan will develop a light launch vehicle with two stages and liquid oxygen-kerosene engines. Its launch is tentatively scheduled for 2031, said Pavel Pushkin, chief designer of the space rocket systems department at Geoscan, at the scientific and practical conference "Opening Space," which started on October 17 in the capital's Lomonosov cluster.
According to Pushkin, this year specialists are working on the project concept. The main design is planned for 2027-2028, he added.
Around 2028-2029, there will be fire tests of one of the large units. And around 2031, we plan the launch.
Geoscan was founded in 2011 in St. Petersburg. Its main activity is related to the creation and production of drones, small spacecraft (CubeSat format), avionics, and specialized software (SW).
Geoscan is not the only Russian private company developing its own rocket. Space Energy specialists are preparing documentation for the medium-class rocket Galaktika with a reusable first stage, and the company 3D Research and Development is developing the project of the ultralight launch vehicle Voronezh.
