Su-57 engine for power plants to become twice as powerful - up to 45 MW

ODK adapts aviation technologies to replace foreign gas turbines

The AL-41ST-25 gas turbine engine, created based on aviation technologies for the Su-57, is planned to be adapted for electricity generation with a capacity of up to 45 MW. Rostec's United Engine Corporation announced such a project.

The AL-41ST-25 has an unsurpassed efficiency of over 39% in its power class, noted Andrey Vorobyov, General Director of ODK-Engineering.

Within the framework of the national project, we propose to provide the industry with completely domestic new-generation gas turbine equipment with a capacity of 45 MW to replace foreign gas turbine equipment at energy generation facilities.
Andrey Vorobyov, General Director of ODK-Engineering

It should be noted that initially, in its industrial version, the AL-41ST-25 produced 25 MW. In the case of the new unit, Ufa's ODK-UMPO manufactured two prototypes. Tests allowed for improving the gas dynamics of the flow path and refining the air and oil supply systems.

The estimated engine life is 120 thousand hours, and in the future, it may reach 150 thousand hours.
