One in five organizations has specialized AI professionals

The introduction of artificial intelligence in mechanical engineering will not lead to mass layoffs. Among organizations already using AI, 63% predict that the current level of demand for workers will be maintained. This is stated in a study by the HSE University.

Visual data processing technologies are used by 14.1% of the surveyed organizations, text processing by 12.8%, and sound by 10.3%. Intelligent decision support is applied by 7.5%. The number of potential users is significantly higher: 35.9% plan to work with visual data, 39.5% with decision support.

A third of AI users report increased productivity and time savings, 21% report automation of routine tasks. Only 10% noted a reduction in headcount.

The main barrier is personnel. Only one in five organizations has specialized AI professionals, and among technology users, this figure is 41%. Two-thirds of organizations with such specialists face a shortage of them, and 82% of AI users describe it as significant. Mass replacement of human labor is not expected: AI rather enhances competencies, and office workers in routine administrative functions are most vulnerable.
