BMP-2M with the Berezhok combat module is used to destroy aircraft-type drones. The effectiveness of the vehicles was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The main means of hitting aerial targets is the 30-mm automatic cannon. The Berezhok module also includes a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun and an updated fire control system.
The combined sight integrates optical and thermal imaging channels, a laser rangefinder, and two-plane line-of-sight stabilization. According to the Ministry of Defense, this helps detect and track small aerial targets in the dark and in difficult weather conditions.
30-mm high-explosive fragmentation ammunition with programmable airburst is also used to fire at drones. The control system calculates the projectile's detonation point on the target's trajectory to hit it with a stream of fragments.
Also, a laser guidance sight and a new "Cheburashka" appeared on the BMP-2 commander's seat. This is what the soldiers call the combat module control panel, which resembles a video game joystick.
