550 hp underground: Tutayevsky Plant equipped a 45-ton BelAZ for Norilsk

The new mine dump truck was assembled at Nornickel's request and is already undergoing tests

The new BelAZ-75855 loading and transport machine was created specifically for complex mine workings. The 45-ton payload mine dump truck was equipped with an 8523.10-01 engine from PAO "Tutayevsky Motor Plant" — a subsidiary of KamAZ in the Yaroslavl region.

The machine was designed for a specific request in close cooperation with Russian partners from Nornickel. The partners are interested in supplying reliable "underground vehicles" independent of imports.

The heart of the dump truck is a TMZ diesel four-stroke engine with cast iron cylinder heads and electronic control. The unit was developed taking into account the specific requirements for underground transport: a working volume of 17.2 liters and a power of 405 kW (550 hp). Together with a 24.2 cubic meter lifting body, this gives the machine high productivity.

Currently, the BelAZ-75855 is undergoing testing at the factory proving ground. By agreement with the customer, the factory testing program replicates the real operating cycle of the equipment in Nornickel mines. After completing the full scope of tests, the new underground dump truck will begin operation in Norilsk.
