"Mowgli-2" completed testing: LOMO supplied four modernized thermal imaging sights to the customer

The device became lighter and more compact, and new optics increased the declared detection range of aerial targets

St. Petersburg JSC "LOMO" (part of the Kalashnikov Concern) supplied the first batch of four modernized Mowgli-2 thermal imaging sights to the state customer. This was reported by the company's press service.

The developers claim that the key achievement of the modernization was a significant reduction in the weight and dimensions of the device — almost by half. This was achieved by revising the optical scheme of the lens and introducing a more modern thermal imaging matrix.

The Mowgli-2 sight is part of man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) such as Igla and Verba. The device is designed for detecting, recognizing, and tracking low-flying aerial targets — aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles — at any time of day and in conditions of limited visibility.

In addition to weight reduction, the improved version received an increased detection range and a new interface for integration with external targeting systems. The sight's design was also adapted for installation on various types of launchers.

The manufacturer does not disclose the official technical characteristics of the new matrix and the exact range of the updated Mowgli-2.
