Russian G-Energy motor oil tested on Chinese cars in a Moscow taxi fleet

Cars with three-cylinder turbocharged engines ran 10,000 km on oil from Gazpromneft-SM during intensive daily operation

Gazpromneft-Lubricants tested G-Energy Synthetic Eco Life 0W-20 motor oil in one of Moscow's taxi fleets. The product was tested on the Russian market in Chinese car brands with three-cylinder turbocharged engines. The cars ran 10,000 km on the oil during intensive daily operation.

Gazpromneft-SM specialists regularly took oil samples and checked their condition. According to the test results, the content of engine wear products was below the limit values. The analysis also showed a reserve of the oil's working properties for at least another 1,000 km of mileage.

G-Energy Synthetic Eco Life 0W-20 is a fully synthetic oil from a Russian company for gasoline and diesel engines, including turbocharged ones. It is designed for power units whose manufacturers recommend SAE 0W-20 viscosity and the corresponding level of performance properties.

The tests were conducted specifically in the conditions of a Moscow taxi fleet, so the engine operated not in a laboratory mode, but under daily commercial load. This type of test is characterized by frequent starts, long engine operation, and high annual mileage of vehicles.

The technical specifications of G-Energy Synthetic Eco Life 0W-20 indicate API SP and ACEA C5 classes. The pour point is -50 °C. The manufacturer also specifies the use of the oil for a number of modern cars where 0W-20 viscosity is prescribed.

Andrey Spirin, Head of Sales Development Department at Gazpromneft-SM, stated that high demands are placed on motor oils for modern cars, as their engines are more powerful and their operating mode is more intensive.

The increasing load on cars requires lubricant manufacturers to have a deeper understanding of how the product behaves throughout its entire service life.

Considering this, the company conducts tests in real conditions. The data obtained is used in engineering solutions to create a product designed for current operating scenarios, Spirin concluded.

For the Russian market, this test format is particularly indicative: Chinese cars have taken a prominent place in sales and commercial fleets in recent years, and their compact turbocharged engines place their own demands on motor oils.

Cars with three-cylinder turbocharged engines have already been operated and continue to be found in Russian taxi fleets — Belgee X50, Belgee X70, and Geely Atlas Pro. All three models use a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline turbo engine.
