Earthquake-resistant building with conical springs created at PGUPS for earthquake zones

Shock absorbers and special slab connections will reduce resonance during tremors

At Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS), a project for an earthquake-resistant building has been created for regions where earthquakes are possible. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Rospatent head Yuri Zubov.

The development uses a special design for slab connections, conical springs, and special shock absorbers. According to Zubov, the reliability and stability of the building during underground tremors are increased by reducing potential resonant phenomena.

This is currently a project, but it demonstrates how engineering solutions protect structures in seismic zones. Conical springs and shock absorbers dampen vibrations, preventing the structure from entering resonance.
