Russian Fishery Company (RRPK) and Admiralty Shipyards signed an agreement to terminate contracts for the construction of the ninth and tenth large freezer trawlers (BMRT) of project ST-192. This was reported by Vedomosti, citing two sources, as well as an unnamed representative of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK).
The parties agreed that the series of vessels under construction in St. Petersburg will be reduced from 10 to 8 units. According to an OSK representative, this decision is due to their increased cost. Admiralty Shipyards had to replace an “unprecedented volume” of imported equipment with Russian analogues. At the same time, the enterprise is incurring losses that no one compensates.
One of the sources stated that the cost of building the eighth trawler, “Alexander Buzakov,” increased from 6 billion rubles to almost 14 billion rubles. According to him, the missing funds could be obtained in the form of government subsidies or loans from OSK.
The second source added that the contract for this vessel became unprofitable. Currently, the readiness of “Alexander Buzakov” does not exceed 40%, and the construction of the ninth and tenth trawlers has not begun.
The series included the trawlers “Kapitan Vdovichenko”, “Mekhanik Maslak”, “Mekhanik Sizov”, “Kapitan Martynov”, “Kapitan Yunak”, “Mekhanik Shcherbakov”, “Kapitan Ipatov”.
BMRT “Alexander Buzakov” was laid down at Admiralty Shipyards in February 2025. It is planned to be completed in 2027.
