A fire broke out at the Neryungri GRES in Yakutia on the morning of September 22, due to which some consumers in the city of Neryungri experienced electricity supply restrictions. The operational headquarters of Yakutia reported the fire on the station's territory, citing the district administration, and the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified information on the progress of fire suppression.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire occurred in the area of the transformer substation and cable duct. The preliminary area of the fire was 40 m². As a result of hazardous factors, a worker born in 1993 was injured. 50 people and 16 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, including the Neryungri GRES facility fire department and Ministry of Emergency Situations units.
The operational headquarters of Yakutia reported a fire at the transformer substation of power unit No. 1 and a turbine in the machine hall. Consumers in Neryungri, powered by the Gorodskaya substation, experienced electricity restrictions. Emergency and rescue services began to eliminate the consequences of the incident, but the timing of full power restoration and the causes of the fire have not yet been disclosed.
Neryungri GRES is a coal-fired thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 570 MW, located in Southern Yakutia. The first power unit of the station was commissioned in 1983, the second and third in 1984 and 1985. The station's equipment includes K-210-130-3 and T-180/210-130-1 steam turbines. Data on the damage to a specific turbogenerator, as well as on possible consequences for the further operation of the power units, have not yet been confirmed.
