The Russian military has created an FPV drone carrier based on the "Molniya" UAV, capable of delivering them to the enemy's rear. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the deputy commander of the unmanned systems battalion of the 49th Army of the "Dnepr" troop group, call sign Donskoy.
According to him, the UAV operators of the 49th Army have many new developments that they have created in field laboratories and are already successfully using on the battlefield.
How the scheme works
Donskoy described the mechanics of application: "Molniya" flies with a warhead, a repeater can be attached to it, or an FPV drone can be attached. The FPV drone detaches and flies to its tasks, while "Molniya" performs objective control. After the FPV has worked on the target, "Molniya" flies into either the same target or another. The officer added that in this scheme, "Molniya" acts as an aircraft carrier, delivering combat FPVs to the enemy's rear.
"Molniya" is an aircraft-type UAV, used, among other things, as a kamikaze attack drone. According to the Ministry of Defence, "Molniya-2" carries a warhead of up to 6 kg and flies up to 60 km. Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" reported how these drones, after modernization, do without Starlink and are no longer tied to a direct "operator-drone" channel.
