Finnish customs discovered deliveries of sanctioned pumps, engines, and valves worth 5.9 million euros to Russia. According to documents, the equipment was sent to partners in Turkey and Kazakhstan, but ultimately ended up in Russia.
This refers to deliveries in 2022–2023 — when the border between Finland and Russia was still open. Now, Finnish customs officers have re-examined old documents and suspect a violation of the sanctions regime.
As the agency clarifies, the export of such products to Russia was permitted under EU rules until July 10, 2022, after which deliveries were prohibited. The preliminary investigation is now nearing completion, and two individuals are suspects.
In the spring of 2026, Finnish customs uncovered another scheme involving deliveries through Turkey and Kazakhstan. At that time, an inspection of waybills showed that 135 trucks and 29 trailers with special equipment, totaling approximately 176 million euros, could have entered Russia.
