Moscow NPP "Impuls" has developed an airborne Doppler direction finder capable of changing the target sighting angle directly in flight. The invention will improve the operation of anti-aircraft missile and interceptor radio fuses.
Old fuses, designed according to 1975 schemes, have rigid factory settings: the detonation angle is tied to the filter frequencies. Because of this, when the target maneuvers, the missile often misses.
Impuls engineers implemented two-channel signal processing. Filters are tuned to frequencies below the intermediate frequency by 5 and 8 kHz with a bandwidth of up to 3 kHz.
As they approach the object, they make Doppler marks. A PLIS-based calculator measures the time interval between them, reads the missile's speed and the required meeting angle, calculating the detonation delay in microseconds.
The fuse triggers precisely at the moment the target is at the ideal angle. The technology has successfully passed simulation and will provide air defense with reliable interception of maneuvering UAVs.
