The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus received 19 new ATZ-6 and ATZ-12 fuel tankers. The equipment was handed over to the units by the Deputy Minister of Defense for Logistics – Head of Logistics of the Armed Forces, Major General Alexander Mosolov.
The delivery was the result of three years of testing and refinement. The military received the first Belarusian-designed vehicles three years ago for testing, after which the design was adjusted.
The key difference of the new ATZ is related to the design of the tanks: the internal volume is divided into isolated sections. This allows one vehicle to simultaneously transport and dispense diesel fuel and gasoline, which expands the capabilities of fuel supply to units.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, the new tankers surpass their predecessors in maneuverability, cross-country ability, and speed. The department did not disclose specific figures for dynamics and carrying capacity, so it is not yet possible to compare the vehicles by numbers.
In the near future, 19 ATZ-6 and ATZ-12 will be sent to training grounds, where they will be tested during combat training missions. This delivery was the first large batch of domestic fuel tankers for the Special Operations Forces of Belarus.
