"Gazprom" has begun endurance tests of the new Russian TM16 gas turbine engine with a capacity of 16 MW. It was created as a replacement for foreign units, including hundreds of Ukrainian DG-90s, which were widely used at compressor stations.
Tests are being conducted at the Turtasskaya compressor station, where DG-90s manufactured by the Nikolaev enterprise "Zorya" - "Mashproekt" are currently in operation.
The prototype of the TM16 engine was developed and manufactured at the site of PAO "Tyumen Motor Builders". All equipment and components of the TM16 are of Russian production.
The main advantage of the new machine is the ability to replace the old engine without extensive station reconstruction. According to the company, the mass and dimensions of the TM16 allow it to be installed in the existing location without additional capital investments.
This means that replacement will not require rebuilding foundations or significantly changing the engineering infrastructure of the compressor station.
The TM16 has a power of 16 MW and is designed not only for new facilities but also for the planned replacement of engines that have reached their service life. "Gazprom" also claims increased efficiency, improved environmental characteristics, and extended overhaul and assigned service life.
