"Knyaz Veschiy Oleg" (KVO) received new high praise amid reports of its use in conjunction with attack drones. The "Krasnaya Zvezda" newspaper called the aircraft-type reconnaissance UAV an indispensable tool for aerial reconnaissance, highlighting not so much the complexity of its design as its practical qualities: resistance to electronic warfare, optics, and the possibility of repair directly at the position.
The KVO is designed for reconnaissance at a distance of up to 45 km and can stay in the air for up to 3.5 hours. The maximum speed of the device reaches 130 km/h, cruising speed is 80 km/h, and the ceiling is stated at 3000 m. The onboard optoelectronic system includes a wide-angle Full HD camera and a camera with 10x optical zoom.
"Krasnaya Zvezda" placed particular emphasis on survivability and maintainability. According to the publication, the device is easy to operate and can be repaired directly in the field, which is especially important for a reconnaissance platform that regularly operates in an electronic warfare environment. The KVO developer, SPC "Ushkuynik", also pointed out the possibility of printing spare parts on a 3D printer.
The practical role of the KVO is not limited to observation. The device is used in conjunction with the fiber-optic FPV drone "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky": the scout transmits information about the situation, and the attack drone gets the opportunity to act taking into account data from the aerial platform.
Earlier it was reported that SPC "Ushkuynik" developed and presented a new fiber-optic attack drone "Zhivoder", designed for ambush attacks.
