Only one system in the world is capable of shooting down ballistic missiles from the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system (OTRK). War correspondent Andrey Kots spoke about this.
He reminded that NASAMS and IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile systems cannot intercept "Iskander-M".
In essence, only American Patriot SAM systems, equipped with PAC-3 and PAC-3 MSE anti-aircraft guided missiles, are capable of shooting down "Iskanders".
Military expert Yuri Knutov noted that "Iskander-M" missiles fly along a quasi-ballistic trajectory, but then begin to sharply maneuver and descend towards the target almost vertically. Because of this, it is more difficult for Patriot to shoot them down.
Foreign analysts claimed that every day in Russia two missiles are built for "Iskander-M". They estimated the total annual stock at around 700 units.
