Volga cars started to be produced from scratch: full-cycle production launched in Nizhny Novgorod

Car bodies are already welded and painted here, and 80% of key operations are performed by robots

In Nizhny Novgorod, full-cycle production of Volga cars was launched in August. Now, cars are not just assembled here: bodies are welded, painted, and then final assembly is carried out. Details were disclosed by the manufacturer's press service.

Most of the work at the enterprise is performed by robots. 80% of key operations have been switched to automatic mode, including the movement, installation, and welding of most assemblies and parts. An intelligent control system monitors the entire process.

A separate stage takes place in the paint shop. Before coating, the body sequentially goes through 19 technological stages. These include washing, phosphating, and applying a cathodic primer.

Until 2022, Volkswagen and Skoda cars were produced at this enterprise in Nizhny Novgorod.
