Seven machines in the diesel production of Penzadieselmash underwent modernization, with the update affecting equipment that processes key components of diesel generators. One of the boring machines now performs hole processing in the connecting rod journals of the crankshaft for the 1-PDG4D diesel generator.
The modernization changed several machine units at once. The operator received a new display to monitor processing parameters in real time, and the supply of cutting fluid was organized separately for each connecting rod journal. This reduced auxiliary time during part processing. The key unit of the aggregate was also replaced, which increased equipment reliability and allowed it to be used without stops.
The 1-PDG4D is a diesel generator based on the D50 engine and is used in the power units of shunting locomotives. Penzadieselmash has been producing this model since 2004, and in 2024, the enterprise assembled the 3000th diesel generator of this type.
The renewal of the machine park is part of the diesel production development project, which PDM is implementing with the support of the Industrial Development Fund.
In the first half of 2026, the plant has already introduced 17 units of new and seven units of modernized equipment. By the end of the year, it is planned to launch four more updated machines.
