The Belarusian automotive electronics manufacturer OAO "Ekran" has launched a project in Borisov to produce import-substituting components for "Euro-5" and "Euro-6" standard vehicles. This was announced by the company's general director, Mikhail Chernin.
The enterprise was founded in Borisov in 1976 and is part of the "Avtokomponenty" holding. It produces sensors, anti-lock braking systems, and air suspension control systems; its products are supplied to the assembly lines of MTZ, KAMAZ, Gomselmash, and MAZ. A key component is the new basic brake control unit: it replaces five previous models, with production transitioning to a unified design and two basic boards with proprietary software.
The task is to replace complex automotive electronics – first European, now also Chinese. Programs for the units are written by Ekran's in-house programmers, which eliminates dependence on foreign software and updates. The previous stage under the Union Program has been completed, and serial production is now being prepared, with systems being adapted for specific vehicles. The product range will be expanded to include air suspension control for low-floor buses and electric buses, fuel consumption and quality sensors, and pressure and position sensors. The project is supported by the state and the Belarusian Innovation Fund.
