Ufa has learned to restore foreign gas turbines, for which a shortage of components and services arose after the departure of foreign manufacturers. Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUNiT) has mastered the restoration of critical parts and shipped the first domestic 10 MW stationary gas turbine engine to the customer.
For repairs, engineers do not just restore old parts, but re-develop technologies for their production and protective coatings. This refers to working blades, which experience high temperatures and mechanical loads, explained Rector Vadim Zakharov.
The university actually acts as a scientific and engineering center in a critically important area for energy and industry – the repair and restoration of foreign-made gas turbines. The complex of works covers the full cycle of materials science support and re-engineering.
It should be noted that Russian thermal power plants and compressor stations are equipped with Siemens SGT-300 series turbines, as well as GE 10 from General Electric.
Earlier it became known that the Ural Turbine Plant began work on creating the first 330 MW steam turbine – the largest unit of its class in Russia.
