Russia can sharply increase the use of new small-sized "Dan-T" missiles by utilizing existing helicopter technology. For this, numerous Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters could potentially be used, adapted for air launch, according to analysts from "Voennaya Khronika".
The scheme does not require the creation of a fundamentally new carrier. As early as 2013, for the predecessor of "Dan-T" — the "Dan-M" missile — the installation of unmanned targets on the external hardpoints of Mi-8MT helicopters was being tested.
Russia has a large reserve for scaling up the use of new small-sized "Dan-T" missiles. Practically nothing needs to be done for this.
The Mi-8/17 is the most common type of helicopter in Russian army aviation. According to estimates by the international analytical institute IISS, there are at least 700-800 of them in service.
Recall that, according to open sources, "Dan-T" is a hybrid of a jet kamikaze drone and a simplified cruise missile. Currently, it is launched from Su-34, Su-57, and Su-30SM fighters.
