Would you notice a fake? Every second Russian is sure they can distinguish AI-generated ads

A VK and Hi-Tech Mail survey showed: 92% of participants expect an increase in neural network creatives

Russians have little doubt that neural networks will increasingly dominate advertising. According to a survey by "VK Reklama" and Hi-Tech Mail among more than 5.2 thousand people, 92% expect an increase in the share of AI-generated creatives. However, the audience is not yet in a hurry to accept such advertising: 77% prefer content created without the involvement of neural networks.

At the same time, 53% of respondents are confident that they can distinguish AI-generated work from human-made work. They consider the technology most appropriate where it allows showing a product in a way that is difficult to do in reality – 47% chose this option. Another 22% appreciate the photorealism of neural network images.

But there is a clear red line: for 70%, it is unacceptable if a generated image misleads the buyer and shows the product as something it is not in reality.

As soon as creatives generated in "VK Reklama" with the help of AI became photorealistic, the share of banners with AI images grew by 30% in just 3 months.

This reveals an interesting gap: the market is rapidly adopting neural networks, but users are only willing to accept them as long as the technology helps advertising look better, but does not replace reality.
