The Arctic Mi-38PS with a range of up to 1500 km was showcased at the XVI International Exhibition "Integrated Safety-2026" in Kazan. The helicopter is designed for EMERCOM operations in remote areas of the Arctic and on the Northern Sea Route.
The Mi-38PS is built on the Mi-38 base but has undergone a complex of modifications to meet the requirements of rescuers. With additional fuel tanks, the flight range reaches 1500 km. This is especially important for the Arctic: the helicopter has to operate over long distances between settlements, infrastructure facilities, and aviation bases.
Kazan Helicopter Plant equipped the machine with equipment for search and rescue operations. Special radio-technical means and a winch are provided on board, allowing people to be lifted even where the helicopter cannot land.
The Mi-38PS is also adapted for medical evacuation. Single or double medical modules can be installed in the cabin. When transporting passengers, the helicopter accommodates up to 40 people, and the maximum cargo weight on an external sling reaches 5 tons.
For combating natural and man-made emergencies, a water-dumping device and a suspended sprayer are provided. They allow the helicopter to be used for firefighting and eliminating oil product pollution.
