SDEK, a large Russian logistics company that provides express delivery of goods, documents, and marketplace items, has started accepting payments from customers in digital rubles. This was announced by the company's press service.
The new payment method is available on the company's website, as well as at pick-up points (PVZ) and with couriers nationwide.
SDEK explained that when placing an order on the website, customers can choose to pay in digital rubles. At PVZ, customers will be provided with a QR code to scan with their smartphone camera and access their mobile banking application.
The user then selects their preferred payment method. A similar QR code is provided by the courier. The option to pay in digital rubles will be "gradually extended to all customers," the logistics company's press service concluded.
Since September 1, systemically important banks in the country have begun conducting operations with digital rubles. Payments in the third form of the national currency have also started to be accepted on Wildberries and Ozon platforms.
A digital wallet for storing tokens can be opened in the applications of 12 banks, including Sberbank and VTB. Experts believe that due to the digital ruble, banks could potentially lose part of their income.
