Gasoline prices are rising again: the Central Bank explained when the situation on the fuel market will become more predictable

The regulator is not yet ready to draw conclusions about the impact of fuel prices on inflation

The Central Bank expects that the situation on the Russian fuel market will become more predictable by October. This was stated to journalists by Kirill Tremasov, advisor to the chairman of the regulator, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which started on September 1 in Vladivostok.

By the end of October, when we have a key meeting of the board of directors on the key rate, I think the situation on the fuel market will become clearer.
Kirill Tremasov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia

According to him, it would be premature to draw any conclusions now. In addition, the secondary effect of the impact of rising fuel prices on inflation can only be assessed in 2027, Tremasov added.

The Central Bank sees that gasoline prices have started to rise again. The regulator is also monitoring the situation around oil refineries (NPPs) in the regions that need restoration, the advisor concluded.

In the spring of 2026, restrictions on fuel sales began to be introduced in Russian regions. As the situation improved, they were lifted. At the same time, the authorities introduced a ban on the export of aviation kerosene.
