From September 1, new norms for drivers' work and rest regimes came into force in Russia, according to the order of the Ministry of Transport. The document is valid until September 1, 2032, and applies to hired drivers and individual entrepreneurs behind the wheel.
The main change is that when the working day is split into parts, the driving time increases from nine to ten hours. However, it is not allowed to be behind the wheel for more than 56 hours during a calendar week and 90 hours over two consecutive weeks. Lunch breaks from 30 minutes to two hours are now required for shifts of four hours or more; previously, it was eight hours or more.
The norms no longer apply to ambulance drivers and special postal services. For individual entrepreneurs, a monthly working time limit equal to the normal number of hours per month has been introduced. Thus, hired drivers gained more flexibility, while self-employed drivers received clear restrictions.
