Russian hybrid tractor KAT wins gold for fuel efficiency at "Agrosalon 2026" exhibition

Model with ECVT continuously variable transmission combines Chinese Yuchai diesel engine and electric motor

At the "Agrosalon 2026" exhibition, the company "Agro-Master Vostok" (AMK) received the "Golden Laureate" award for its KAT KRE 3504 hybrid tractor. The model became the first production hybrid tractor on the Russian market, providing a high level of fuel economy.

The KAT KRE 3504 tractor is equipped with a hybrid power plant, combining a 375 hp Yuchai diesel engine and an electric motor. The transmission is a continuously variable ECVT, which provides smooth speed changes without stepped shifts. The design allows the machine to operate in several modes, adapting to conditions, and minimizing power losses, optimizing fuel consumption. The technology was refined taking into account the wishes of Russian farmers. The model is aggregated with wide-span implements from manufacturers such as Horsch, John Deere, and others.

Among the key features of the tractor are an axial-piston pump with a capacity of up to 200 l/min and four pairs of electronically controlled hydraulic valves, which ensures efficient operation with any trailed equipment. The tractor features a full-frame design with modular arrangement of units, which simplifies maintenance and repair.

According to the developers, the hybrid system significantly reduces fuel costs compared to traditional diesel tractors of similar power.

The KAT KRE 3504 is assembled at the facilities of "Agro-Master Vostok" in Krasnoyarsk Krai, as well as at the Xuzhou KAT Agricultural Equipment factories in China. Most key components, including the engine and transmission, are of Chinese production. The front axle is Italian (Carraro).
