Minpromtorg ready to supply An-2 with domestic VK-800 engine from 2028

Minpromtorg is ready to supply completely updated An-2 aircraft with the new domestic VK-800 engine from 2028, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev told TASS at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

Deliveries of updated An-2s with the old engine will begin in 2027, and with the VK-800 from 2028. Trutnev admitted that this solution is not ideal: the country flew the An-2 for 60–80 years and is now returning to it. But the problem of transport accessibility needs to be solved, since aircraft designers are not yet offering another light aircraft.

The Deputy Prime Minister called for maximum concentration of efforts on creating a new light aircraft. The An-2 remains essential for remote areas of the Far East, but its age requires replacement. The VK-800 is expected to be the first fully domestic engine for this aircraft.
