The Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line of the Moscow Metro will be extended from the "Planernaya" station to the Kurkino district, where two new stations will be built. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin during a meeting with teachers and students of a new school.
The length of the new underground section is 5.1 km, and the projected names of the stations are "Novokurkinskoye Shosse" and "Kurkino". For 150 thousand residents of Kurkino, Putilkovo, and Khimki, the metro will be within walking distance: the walk will take about five minutes instead of 30 minutes by bus to "Planernaya" or "Khovrino". The journey to Belorussky railway station will be reduced from an hour to 30 minutes, and to the "Khoroshevskaya" BKL station from 50 to 25 minutes.
"Planernaya" was opened in 1975, and for 51 years it remained the terminal station on the purple line. The extension will reduce the load on its turnstiles by 20% - from 50 to 39 thousand passengers per day. The construction became possible after the launch of the Big Circle Line (BKL) and the third Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-3), which relieved the northwestern section of the line.
