Server Memory Doubled in Price: Some SSDs Tripled in Six Months

AI Boom Consumed Manufacturers' Capacities

The cost of server components in Russia sharply increased in the first half of 2026. According to "Kommersant", some models of RAM doubled in price, and some SSDs tripled. Experts attribute the main reason to the artificial intelligence boom and the reallocation of production capacities towards equipment for neural networks.

Server RAM significantly increased in price during the first half of 2026. Older generation memory added approximately 25%, while newer generation memory immediately increased by 100%. For example, a 64 GB Samsung server memory module rose in price from 90 thousand to 110 thousand rubles, and a 32 GB module from 80 thousand to 160 thousand rubles. SSDs, in some cases, tripled in price, a representative of MWS Cloud told "Kommersant". Processors also became more expensive. The Intel Xeon 4310 increased in price from 45 thousand to 70 thousand rubles, and the Xeon 6434 from 190 thousand to 210 thousand rubles on average.

According to "Marvel Distribution", the memory storage market in the first half of the year amounted to 7–8.5 million units and 120–160 billion rubles. At the same time, memory for ordinary computers increased in price by approximately 50–150%. Prices for server memory are growing the most, notes Petr Gorbei, director of the computer peripherals department at the company. The main reason is related to the boom in artificial intelligence infrastructure. It requires huge volumes of ordinary server memory and more capacious solutions.

Demand for SSDs, fast data storage drives, is also growing. Software with AI elements requires significant computing power, and SSDs help improve server performance in corporate fleets, says Nadezhda Medvedeva, deputy director of the OCS components department. Server SSD sales in the first half of the year increased by 20% year-on-year and for the first time exceeded demand for HBM, high-speed memory used in AI accelerators. Sales of traditional HDD hard drives decreased by 5% over the same period.

Since the end of 2025, newer generation server memory, according to Nikita Korablyov, head of the Astra Xplatform direction at Astra Group, has increased in price by one and a half to two times. Compared to the minimum prices of summer 2025, the growth was two to three times. Older generation memory could have added more than the stated 25%. Corporate SSDs, according to his estimate, increased in price by 50–80% in six months. The price increase began back in 2025. In the second half of the year, drives cost twice as much as in the first.

Experts link the shortage of ordinary memory to global demand for HBM. Major manufacturers Micron and SK hynix have focused on large orders of high-speed memory for AI from Nvidia and other companies. About half of the market expects further infrastructure cost growth in the next 12 months, said Pavel Voronin, CEO of MTS Web Services. According to him, about a third of companies have already faced increased prices for RAM and graphics accelerators. Against this background, businesses may increasingly choose cloud or hybrid models that do not require their own investments in infrastructure.
