Russia is building a new laser air defense system against cruise missiles

Journalist Rogatkin stated that the complex has already shot down hundreds of UAVs

Russian combat laser systems are transitioning from combating drones to faster aerial targets. For now, the installations are used to protect strategic facilities, journalist Alexander Rogatkin reported.

According to him, citing developers, the laser air defense system has already shot down several hundred enemy UAVs.

First-generation laser installations are being replaced by more powerful complexes capable of shooting down high-speed targets: aircraft and cruise missiles.

Rogatkin himself believes that a combat laser, in conjunction with traditional air defense systems, is definitely useful against air raids.

Laser air defense in Russia is being developed as part of the "Posokh" project. To increase efficiency, the system was integrated with radar, which allows for more accurate detection and tracking of "birds." According to the latest information, during tests, it was possible to achieve a range of 1.5 km.
