The designers of Severnoe PKB have certainly taken into account modern threats and made changes to the modernization project of the missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" regarding the fight against drones and various unmanned boats. This was reported by fleet historian, naval military expert Dmitry Zhavoronkov.
He noted that initially, "Nakhimov" was undergoing an upgrade according to the basic Project 1144, but then it was expanded to the level of 1144M2. What exactly changed is unknown; this is classified information.
The designers of Severnoe PKB, who developed this amazing series of ships, called them the most powerful in the world. But one way or another, certain changes, I am sure, were made both in terms of anti-drone warfare and the fight against various unmanned boats.
A few days ago, it became known that "Admiral Nakhimov" is completing its factory and sea trials program, after which state trials will begin. Presumably, the cruiser will be fully ready by the end of 2026.
Universal launch systems 3S-14 will be able to fire a salvo of 80 missiles of three types at once – "Kalibrs", "Oniks", and "Tsirkons".
The head of the Russian Maritime Board, Nikolai Patrushev, noted that "Admiral Nakhimov" will soon return to service, but did not specify exact dates.
