The Starlink system has a new adversary in orbit: the ground-based electronic jamming complex "Volna Kupol Garant" has been moved to serial production after a series of tests. TASS was informed about this by a source in the defense industry complex.
Unlike conventional electronic warfare systems that jam ground terminals, "Volna Kupol Garant," according to the source, directly affects Starlink satellites. A narrowly directed powerful radio signal is supposed to "blind" their receiving antennas, causing ground terminals to lose service.
According to information, one installation can disrupt Starlink's operation over a vast area, several such complexes can block the satellite network's operation in an entire region, and dozens of systems simultaneously can lead to significant and prolonged disruptions in the entire network's operation. However, at present, there is no independent technical data to confirm the claimed range and scale of impact.
The transition of "Volna Kupol Garant" to serial production means that the Russian side intends to use these complexes not as individual experimental samples, but as a scalable means of electronic warfare against Starlink satellite communications.
