In the first half of 2026, subsoil users ensured an increase in reserves of industrial categories: for liquid hydrocarbons (oil and condensate) – 45 million tons, for gas – 156 billion cubic meters. Rosnedra reported this to TASS.
For comparison: during the same period in 2025, the increase in liquid hydrocarbons was 39 million tons, and by the end of the year it reached 510 million tons. The agency emphasized that the main volume of the increase traditionally occurs at the end of the year, when the main geological exploration works are completed.
In 2025, the total increase in oil and condensate reserves in Russia amounted to 640 million tons, and gas – 670 billion cubic meters, which ensured the reproduction of the resource base. A positive balance is also expected by the end of 2026. Sustainable reserve replenishment is critically important for the long-term stability of the oil and gas industry and budget revenue.
