Russian military successfully shoot down shells from the Vampire multiple launch rocket system, although they are smaller than HIMARS. This was reported by Captain First Rank, military expert Vasily Dandykin.
According to him, Vampire is a difficult target precisely because of its small size.
We are working, shooting them down, it happens every day. There are Croatian-made ones, there are Czech-made ones, modernized, perhaps with improved, increased accuracy.
It should be noted that Su-35S and Su-57 fighters cannot be used as aerial air defense to counter Vampire shells. A 122 mm caliber shell is almost impossible to detect by a fighter's radar or an aircraft missile's thermal homing head.
Therefore, only ground-based air defense forces with powerful radars – "Pantsir-S1", "Tor-M2" or "Buk-M2" – are used to destroy Vampire.
