PD-35 engine to get test facility for 3.77 billion rubles

New complex in Perm Krai will allow testing of combustion chambers and compressors

A new test complex is being created in Perm Krai, which will become part of the infrastructure for fine-tuning promising Russian aircraft engines, including the PD-35. The project in Novye Lyady is estimated at 3.77 billion rubles, with completion planned for 2027.

The project for a test stand for combustion chamber sections and promising combustion chambers of JSC "ODK-Perm Motors" received a positive conclusion from the state expert review. The information was entered into the register on August 20.

The site will allow separate testing of key engine components before final tests of the complete power plant.

Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov noted that the state corporation expects to receive a type certificate for the PD-35 within two to three years. In the global market, the project will have to compete with products from Rolls-Royce, General Electric Aviation, and Pratt & Whitney.
