Scammers use AI to fake voices and write "personal" messages

The main threat is not deepfakes, but the speed and personalization of deception

The National Center for Missing and Abused Children told RIA "Novosti" that artificial intelligence makes fraudulent schemes more convincing, faster, and more personalized. The main danger is not the fact of video forgery itself, but that the entire deception becomes similar to real personal contact.

Attackers use neural networks to fake voices and images. With voice samples, photos, or videos, they create a digital copy of a person. A relative might receive a message from a loved one who was in a car accident or lost documents and urgently asks for money. AI also generates well-written phishing emails imitating correspondence with a bank, government agencies, or an employer.

Neural networks help personalize schemes by quickly processing data about the victim. As a result, the message looks not like a mass mailing, but like a targeted appeal. Experts advise double-checking urgent requests for money, even if they come from acquaintances, and not clicking on suspicious links.
