The "Resurs-P" Earth remote sensing satellite obtained an image of the Manpupuner Plateau in the Komi Republic, Roscosmos reported. This is one of Russia's most famous natural objects – seven stone pillars of weathering, 30 to 42 meters high.
About 200 million years ago, a high mountain range was located here. Winds, rains, frost, and sun destroyed soft rocks, leaving only strong quartzites and shales, which eventually turned into giant remnants.
"Resurs-P" is a Russian satellite for high-detail surface imaging. The image of the Manpupuner Plateau allows us to assess the scale of this natural phenomenon from orbit. Due to its remoteness and difficult climatic conditions, access to this tourist attraction is difficult, so space images provide a unique opportunity to see it from an unusual perspective.
