Rosatom to Build 18 More Power Units in Russia

The head of the state corporation announced construction at nine sites, including small and floating nuclear power plants

The head of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, stated that 18 power units are currently under construction in Russia. The statement was made at a meeting on the development of nuclear energy, which was chaired by President Vladimir Putin.

According to Likhachev, projects are being implemented at nine sites at various stages of readiness. These include large power units, as well as small and floating nuclear power plants.

Vladimir Putin noted at the meeting that Russia is the only country in the world with competencies across the entire nuclear energy chain – from uranium mining to power plant construction and spent fuel management. The President emphasized that the nuclear industry, with its powerful concentration of science, technology, and unique specialists, is a source of national pride.
