In July, Russians purchased 548.7 thousand used passenger cars, and all five top positions in the model rating were taken by AvtoVAZ products, according to the Avtostat agency. This is a record monthly figure for 2026, although the market decreased by 3.3% year-on-year.
Lada predictably remained the leader in the brand rating with 122.1 thousand resold cars. It is followed by Toyota (60.4 thousand), Kia (30.3 thousand), Hyundai (29 thousand), and Volkswagen (26.5 thousand). In the model ranking, the top five consisted of Lada Classic (VAZ-2101–2107) with 19.7 thousand units, Lada Samara 2 (14 thousand), Lada Priora (13.6 thousand), Lada Granta 2 (11.8 thousand), and Lada 110 (10.7 thousand).
The paradox of the market: July's volume was the highest in 2026 but lagged behind July 2025 due to a high comparative base, explained Dmitry Yarygin, head of strategic projects at Avtostat. The stable demand for used Lada cars is supported by the availability of spare parts and repairability in conditions where new cars continue to become more expensive.
