The developer of the domestic "R-phone" smartphone – AO "Rutek" – owes 15.7 million rubles for rent, CNews reports. The lawsuit from "Technopark-Mordovia" was filed in June 2026. The company acknowledged the debt, explaining it by a temporary decrease in order volume and adjustment of financial flows. "Rutek" assured that the situation has stabilized, orders have recovered, and the project is developing as planned.
Since 2023, "Rutek" has been leasing facilities at "Technopark-Mordovia" for the production of telecommunications equipment and all-in-one PCs. By the end of 2024, the company planned to launch the production of "R-phone" smartphones there. Also in June 2024, plans were announced to build a factory in the Mordovian SEZ "Sistema" with investments of several billion rubles.
AO "Rutek", according to CNews, belonged to former Minister of Communications Leonid Reiman. The company produces smartphones, server boards, and tablets, including the flagship "R-phone" running on its own OS "ROSA Mobile".
History of the Russian "R-phone" smartphone
In December 2023, the smartphone was officially unveiled in Moscow: the device received a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, and runs on the domestic OS "ROSA Mobile". At the same time, "Rutek" announced the phone's release for sale in 2024.
Even earlier, in the autumn of 2023, the project found itself at the center of a scandal: users and tech bloggers discovered an external resemblance of the "R-phone" to the Symphony Helio 80 smartphone from Bangladesh. The developers rejected accusations of plagiarism, calling the devices "two completely different products," although they admitted that foreign components were used in the assembly.
In parallel, details of the software filling were revealed: its own ROSA Disk cloud, Russian drivers, and an emphasis on protection against cyber espionage.
