Drivers in Russia will now be able to find out where a road camera is looking and what the speed limit is ahead

Information about nearby devices has appeared in Yandex Maps

Drivers will be able to find out in advance which road cameras they will encounter on their way and in which direction they are looking. Yandex Maps has added information to its navigation mode about the direction of cameras, controlled lanes, and speed limits on upcoming road sections.

The service shows where the two nearest cameras along the route are directed. The user can see which lane the device controls and which traffic flow it records – oncoming or passing.

If the camera measures speed after the car has passed, the service additionally warns about this with a voice message.

In addition to camera information, drivers can now see in advance what speed limits apply further along the route. Previously, Yandex Maps only showed the permitted speed on the current road section.

For example, the navigator can show in advance that you can drive at 80 km/h until the interchange, then the limit will decrease to 60 km/h, and after that to 40 km/h. Thanks to this, the driver will be able to change speed in advance and observe the established regime.

Yandex Maps noted that the pilot launch of the new feature shows that it helps drivers better comply with speed limits and makes driving more predictable.
