Night transfers proposed to be paused: Ministry of Internal Affairs advises limiting operations in banking app

Additionally, daily and monthly limits can be set for cash withdrawals and transfers by phone number

The Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends proactively limiting night transfers and internet transactions in the banking application, if the bank provides such an option. The agency believes that an additional barrier can reduce the risk of money theft from an account, especially if a suspicious operation is carried out during hours when the cardholder usually does not use it.

Another measure is daily and monthly limits. It is advised to set them for cash withdrawals and transfers by phone number so that an attacker cannot withdraw a large amount from the account in a short time.

Such a setting can be especially relevant for cards that are not used every day but hold significant savings. In this case, a pre-set limit will prevent transfers exceeding the specified amount without changing the settings.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that this is about prevention: the more restrictions the account holder sets in advance, the more difficult it will be to quickly withdraw money even if access to the banking application is obtained.
