Proposed to Limit Airfare Price Growth to Inflation Level

Deputies propose to allocate additional subsidies and expand the route network

Yury Grigoriev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport Infrastructure Development, proposed to fix the upper limit of air ticket prices and link it to inflation, TASS reported. In his opinion, prices should not grow faster than inflation, and in August, carriers already increased the cost of flights without luggage by an average of 17%.

The parliamentarian emphasized that the main thing is to prevent price increases solely due to airlines' desire to profit from difficulties. Additionally, he considers it necessary to allocate subsidies to reduce flight costs, similar to those already in effect for routes from the Far East to Central Russia, and to expand the geography of flights.

Separately, it is proposed to subsidize regional flights from district centers to the capital of the constituent entity from the federal budget, especially from hard-to-reach areas where aviation remains the only way to get there. The initiative aims to curb price growth and support transport accessibility.
