Russian non-profit organizations will be able to confirm their official social media pages via "Gosuslugi" starting September 1, 2026. The verification procedure has been approved by the government, and the mechanism will operate on "VKontakte" and "Odnoklassniki".
The confirmed status should help users distinguish real pages of foundations and other NGOs from accounts created in their name. Such copies may use the organization's well-known name to collect money or spread unreliable information.
The Ministry of Digital Development expects that verification will increase the transparency and security of online charity. For the organizations themselves, confirmation will be an additional way to show the audience that the page truly belongs to the NGO.
This is especially important for foundations that communicate with beneficiaries, volunteers, and donors through social networks. The new status should reduce the risk of fraud on behalf of organizations and simplify page verification before transferring funds.
