Three new Russian-made surface grinding machines have been put into operation in the mechanical workshop of Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (AO "IMZ", part of Kalashnikov Concern). The new equipment will help increase the output of special-purpose products, the concern's press service reported.
The machines are designed for grinding flat and shaped surfaces of metal parts with an accuracy of up to the 12th grade (degree of accuracy). The roughness of the parts after processing will be minimal — only 0.32 µm.
Compliance with these requirements is important for the fit (type of connection) of mating parts during product assembly. This helps maintain its high aerodynamic properties. More than 10 parts for special-purpose products will be processed on the surface grinding machines.
More than 10 units of equipment are planned for delivery, and in total, the project provides for the acquisition of over 100 units of technological equipment and the creation of a separate production site.
The new equipment complies with GOST. It is planned to be used around the clock.
Izhevsk Mechanical Plant produces a wide range of special-purpose products, including small arms (compact Lebedev pistols, PP 19-01 "Vityaz-SN" submachine gun) and components for aircraft missiles (S-13), cartridges for smoothbore weapons (Baikal brand).
