"Tekhnosfera Rossiya": The "Volna Kupol Garant" system needs to be camouflaged

The Russian electronic warfare system "Volna Kupol Garant" can directly affect Starlink satellites, rather than ground-based terminals. The publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" warned about the difficulties the complex might face.

"Volna Kupol Garant" directs a narrow-band high-frequency radio beam at the satellite, creating interference in 8 data transmission bands. As a result, the spacecraft loses the ability to properly receive signals from ground subscribers in the affected area.

At the same time, the high radiating power makes the complex vulnerable to enemy electronic intelligence, which requires mandatory cover for installations at positions, camouflage means, etc.

"Volna Kupol Garant" operates in the 14–14.5 GHz range, using phased array antennas to form directional radiation.

Basic characteristics of the complex are already known: six towed modules with rotary antennas, operation in eight bands of 62.5 MHz each, and a declared suppression zone of up to 20 km².

According to Dmitry Kuzyakin, General Designer of TsKBR, the system literally "blinds" satellites with parasitic signals, depriving them of the ability to receive data from ground subscribers.
