Long logistics flows where rovers are inefficient: a niche for aerial drone couriers has been named

Airspace will not be overloaded with drones, as their use is limited to specific logistics tasks and does not involve mass flights over populated areas. This opinion was expressed by Denis Baryshnikov, CEO of the company "Konsortsium BAS".

The discreteness of the transport system built on drones (movement in batches, not a continuous flow), it is, so to speak, different, it differs from the discreteness of manned vehicles and cars.

Since drones are significantly smaller in size, more of them can be launched than "heavy vehicles" (airplanes, helicopters), Baryshnikov added.

At the same time, a mass launch of drones is not required over large cities like Moscow, the expert believes. After all, the main niche for aerial drones is the so-called "long thin" logistics flows. Drone couriers will be used where the use of ground rovers is inefficient, Baryshnikov concluded.

In the summer of 2025, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, within the framework of an experimental legal regime, cargo delivery up to 5 kg by air couriers began. Drones move along 2-3 routes agreed with regional authorities. Each drone performs up to 20 flights daily.
