Information about the fuel class must be displayed in a clear form at gas stations. This is stated in the new amendments by the Russian government. The details of the innovations were revealed by Yury Stankevich, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy.
No new federal road signs will be introduced before gas stations. However, on the information board on fuel dispensers, next to the brand name ("AI-92", "AI-95"), the alphanumeric index of the environmental class (K2, K3, K4, K5) must be indicated in large font.
In the cash register area, the information must be duplicated on price tags-steles above the nozzles, the parliamentarian explained.
The operator is also obliged, upon the first request of the buyer, to provide a copy of the product passport for a specific batch, which indicates the full physico-chemical composition, including the exact content of sulfur, resins, and density.
Why is this needed?
According to Stankevich, retail was effectively obliged to lift the taboo on mentioning low environmental classes, so that the owner of a modern car could visually distinguish "Euro-2" standard gasoline from "Euro-5" standard gasoline even before refueling and make a decision in advance.
Earlier, the Russian government adopted a resolution that allows the production, circulation, and import into the country of automotive gasoline of environmental classes "Euro-2", "Euro-3", and "Euro-4" until July 1, 2027.
